Buying a home can be one of the most rewarding decisions that we make as an adult, afterall, there’s a reason they consider homeownership “The American Dream”.   But, let’s face it, it can also be a challenging and difficult process, especially if you’re trying to navigate it on your own.  I get it… I’ve been there!


When my husband and I were just 20 and 21 years old, we decided to purchase our first home.   Our parents hadn’t purchased real estate in decades, and we knew nothing about the buying process.  We looked at a “for sale by owner” and relied heavily on our loan officer to facilitate the process.  We didn’t know we should have a home inspection, or that we could schedule a final walk-through to verify the condition of the property before closing.  We didn’t know that the closing costs we were being charged by our lender were exceptionally high.  We didn’t have someone in our corner looking out for us who knew all of the ins and outs, and do’s and don'ts… and we didn’t know how easily we could have enlisted the help of a REALTOR®.   It was an eye opening experience!  One that inspired us to help others achieve homeownership and other real estate goals with the guidance that we wish we would have had as young adults.
